Best E-Liquids for Sub-Ohm Vaping
Sub-ohm vaping asks different things of a liquid. Bigger coils, far more airflow, considerably more vapour per puff, and as a result a set of requirements that are close to the opposite of what a pod kit wants. Our explainer on what ohmage means covers the hardware side, and the advantages of each vaping style covers the choice between them.
In practice that means high-VG shortfills at low nicotine. Here are seven that suit, and the things worth understanding before you buy a large bottle.
1. Drip Blue Raspberry
Drip Blue Raspberry is sweet and tangy blue raspberry in a 100ml shortfill, around £8.32. Blue raspberry is a sub-ohm staple for good reason. It is bright enough to stay interesting through a lot of vapour and it does not become sickly the way heavier flavours can at this volume.
2. Drip Cherry Cola
Drip Cherry Cola sets sweet cherry against fizzy cola. A genuine change of pace if you have been on fruit blends for months, and one of the better cola flavours we carry. 100ml shortfill at around £8.32.
3. Drip Wild Berries
Drip Wild Berries is a smooth wild berry blend in a 100ml shortfill, around £8.32. Rounder and less sharp than the Blue Raspberry, which makes it the easier of the two to vape all day.
4. Seriously Slushy Raspberry Tangerine
Seriously Slushy Raspberry Tangerine pairs juicy raspberries with cold freshly squeezed tangerine. The slushy range adds a cooling note, which works particularly well at sub-ohm volumes where a warm flavour can feel heavy. Around £10.83.
5. Seriously Slushy Mixed Berries
Seriously Slushy Mixed Berries applies the same cold slushy treatment across a mixed berry blend. If you like the format but find single fruits monotonous, this is the one. Around £10.83.
6. Seriously Fruity Blue Razz Berry
Seriously Fruity Blue Razz Berry is a straightforward blue raspberry and berry combination from the Seriously range, around £10.83. Worth trying alongside the Drip version if blue raspberry is your thing, since the two are noticeably different in balance.
7. Seriously Pod Fill Max
Seriously Pod Fill Max is a slightly different proposition. A 40ml format, double concentrated for maximum flavour, in options such as Strawberry Milk, Blueberry and Blackcurrant Citrus. Around £6.66, and a good way to try the range without committing to a full 100ml.
What sub-ohm liquid needs to be
High VG, usually 70/30
Sub-ohm coils are large and low-resistance, and they need a thicker liquid to keep the wick supplied. A 70/30 blend, meaning 70 per cent vegetable glycerine, is the standard. It also produces the dense vapour that is the point of vaping this way. A thin 50/50 in a sub-ohm tank tends to leak past the seals and spit back at you.
Low nicotine, 3mg or 6mg
This is not optional. Because each puff delivers several times more vapour than a pod kit, the nicotine per inhale is far higher at the same milligram figure. A 20mg liquid through a sub-ohm device would be genuinely unpleasant. Everything on this list is designed to land around 3mg once mixed.
Sold as a nicotine-free shortfill
Every large bottle above is nicotine-free as sold. UK regulations cap nicotine-containing bottles at 10ml, so a 100ml bottle simply cannot contain nicotine on the shelf. They are deliberately underfilled, and you add a separate 10ml nicotine shot yourself.
Mixing, briefly
A 100ml shortfill in a 120ml bottle takes two 10ml nic shots and finishes at roughly 3mg. A 50ml in a 60ml bottle takes one and lands in the same place. Add the shots, cap it, shake hard for a good thirty seconds, and leave heavier flavours a few days to settle before judging them.
Some shortfills are sold as a bundle with the nic shot already included in the box, which saves buying one separately. It is worth checking the listing before you add a shot to your basket.
Why flavours behave differently at sub-ohm
A liquid you enjoyed in a pod kit will not necessarily translate, and it is worth knowing why before you buy a large bottle of something you liked in 10ml.
Sub-ohm devices run hotter and push far more vapour, which amplifies everything. Sweet flavours become sweeter and can turn sickly within an hour. Menthol becomes considerably more aggressive. Subtle blends lose their detail because there is simply too much going on.
What survives the treatment is fruit with some acidity to it, which is why this list leans that way, and simple flavours with one or two clear notes. It is also why the cooler slushy blends work so well: the cold cuts through the volume of vapour instead of being buried by it.
Coils and consumption, honestly
Two things to budget for that pod kit users rarely think about. Sub-ohm coils wear faster because they run harder, and you will get through liquid at several times the rate.
Where a mouth-to-lung vaper might take a week over a 10ml bottle, a sub-ohm vaper can work through a 100ml shortfill in a fortnight or less. That is precisely why the format exists, and why buying 10ml bottles for a sub-ohm kit makes very little sense.
Sweeter flavours will shorten coil life further, so keep spares in and change them when the flavour dulls rather than waiting for it to taste burnt.
What it costs, and what changes
Per millilitre this is the cheapest way to vape by a comfortable margin. A 100ml shortfill plus two shots works out considerably below the price per millilitre of a 10ml bottle, and sub-ohm vapers get through enough liquid for that to matter.
The one thing to plan for is the vaping duty of £2.20 per 10ml arriving on 1 October 2026. It applies to nicotine-containing liquid, so it falls on the nic shots rather than the nicotine-free shortfill itself.
Where to start
If you are new to sub-ohm, take Drip Wild Berries or Drip Cherry Cola. Both are rounded, forgiving flavours that work across a long session rather than demanding attention. If you want something colder, the Seriously Slushy pair are the pick.
And if you are not certain the format suits you, start with a 50ml rather than a 100ml. Half the outlay, identical process, and far less to regret if the flavour turns out not to be for you.
