There’s always a new device or liquid being released, but this one should catch your eye, especially if you are an ex-disposable user. Not because it has some spectacular complexity, or has the most flashy imagery, but because, working with one of Europe’s largest vape device manufacturers; Vapefly, we at QLabs have made something that is truly seamless in its simplicity, and without compromise.

We have designed this device in line with Stoptober, the quit smoking month in the UK. However, with that in mind, we have designed the device to work for those looking to quit smoking!

So, what is so special about it? How is it better than say, an Xros 5 Mini, and why should you care about it if you’re looking to quit smoking this Stoptober?

First, simplicity. Or as we at QLabs like to say “Simplicity Perfected”. For anyone looking for a click and go device, this one does just that. While we could offer prefilled pods, our ethos around waste guided the decision to reject using a prefilled system in favour of a refillable one. The included QSeries pods use Vapefly’s FreeCore mesh coils, a favourite across Europe with years of development behind it, providing amazing flavour and a long life. We’ve used these coils to develop our QSalts too, meaning that for the best experience, QSalts is the way to go. With our push sliding top fill design, refilling is as simple as slide - fill - slide and away you go again. No need to take out your pods to refill, or fiddle with seal flaps. They’re well sealed too, with a valve system that works well to keep your liquid where it’s supposed to be. We’ve tried to make them leak and outside of doing something deliberately bad, we’ve not managed to. But don’t take our word for it, test them yourself. We made them to be strong, and they hold up!

Now, there is no button on this device. Something not completely alien to an ecigarette, especially thanks to the disposables we all got used to for the last 5 years, but we made it like this on purpose, we wanted it to be simple and easy to use. Also, no button means no accidental firing in your pocket. So no button, how do you use it? Same as a disposable. So long as it has charge, just draw on it like a cigarette and inhale. With no button, we got rid of the screen too. Yeah, that does mean you don’t get a fancy OLED display of your battery but hear me out, as there is more reason for getting rid of the screen than just not having a button. Screens consume power, and that power could go to letting your vape do its job. Screens take a lot of power because it takes more than just the energy to display the images, it has to calculate everything it needs to display too and while it doesn’t look like a lot, it all adds up. Compared to the Q2Pro, this gives almost an entire extra day of use! 

With the removal of the screen, we saw that we had reduced something important, information, information that is normally given in the most obscure and rudimentary sense of a traffic light system. You know the one. “Yes it’s full, oop actually about half charged maybe, AAAAH CHARGE ME!.” We don’t like that system. So, we’ve come up with our own innovation for giving you the information you need to keep functioning all day. We call it the FSRL system or Full Spectrum Ring Light system. This system brings you the ability to read your battery level at every percentage change without needing a numerical screen draining the battery to do it. Basically, at full battery, the ring light at the base of the device will display a vibrant violet colour, like the top of a rainbow. As the battery depletes, it goes down through the rainbow, slowly shifting through every colour until it reaches Red. This means that you can see when it is fully charged, 90% charged, 60%, 30%, every percent while using a fraction of the power needed by a screen. 

Moving on from the simplicity, we’ve also kept our promise to keep things compatible. All of our Qseries pods, both the original QOne pods and our newer Q2Pro ones are compatible with this device. It’s not hard to keep to a standard design, especially when it already feels nice and works. So we’re not going to change the design. That way if you prefer the side fill QOne pods, you can use them, and if you want a flatter more ergonomic mouth piece, you can have that too. And in the future, we intend to keep this format of improvement rather than renovating the whole thing.

The Q2 uses the same Type C charger that the Q2Pro has and because we know that cables break over time, we’ve included one in the box. I’m sure my kids eat ours in the night or something as they often randomly vanish.

Finally, in terms of first appearance, the aesthetics. It comes in 2 colours, Silver, and Emerald. The embossed pattern across its surface gives a tactile feel and offers a little extra grip while adding to its appearance. While the Q2Pro was sleek, and took on that more professional appearance, we wanted this to be more an “on the go” versatile device. This means we expect it to be used in more environments, and so the added grip will help to ensure that it’s fumble free. The expectation of it being used on the go is also why we’ve kept the cradle design for the internal components used on the QOne, something that we tested “extensively” to see just how much damage it could endure. We don’t recommend you replicate it as we took on the risks, but our customers using the QOne and Q2Pro have both returned after asking for something that won’t break the next time they drop it down the stairs thanking us for making a device that can actually take a drop!
